Full time position/40 hours per week
Monday - Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring that products are purchased at competitive prices, of acceptable quality and maintained at reasonable inventory levels as per company guidelines.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Locates sources of supply, obtains written quotes from suppliers, negotiates prices and places orders for product consistent with JFS quality standards. Monitors inventory levels daily, and places orders according to company guidelines. Reviews the below minimum report daily, and acts on products that are going to be out of stock prior to the next order being delivered. Responsible for daily reports and for maintaining customer service level above pre-established acceptable levels.  This would also include emergency sourcing of products if we are out, or close to being out.  Handling day to day calls from sales as to inventory questions – stock on hand, PO due dates, special order questions, product questions, etc. Assisting sales in getting price quotes as needed and help the marketing department with information about new item flyers and tracking / notifying sales upon arrival. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; preferably three years Purchasing background; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of market conditions and sources of supply with the demonstrated ability to plan and organize the purchasing function.

 

Skills

Demonstrated ability to use a computer system (AS/400 or comparable) to obtain and manipulate data, request reports, answer inquiries, etc.  Also, demonstrated ability to use a personal computer for word processing and spreadsheet manipulation. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication and follow up. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
